The webinar Senior Secondary Learning and Teaching Strategies for the Geography Curriculum: Planning of Fieldwork Activities on the Topic “River Environment” will be organized by the Edu-cation Bureau aiming at introducing to teachers how the topic “River Environment” can be planned, and discussing the problems encountered by students during the fieldwork. The fieldwork site – Bride’s Pool will also be introduced in the video.

Outreach workshop – S.K.H. All Saints Middle School ‘Plankton Go’

Our biology teachers visit S.K.H. All Saints Middle School to deliver a workshop about marine planktons. Students learn about the microscopic observation techniques and identify different zooplanktons and phytoplankton.

Student’s Workshop for Elegantia College

Our biology teachers visit Elegantia College to deliver a workshop about marine planktons. It is at the same time the biology session of Elegantia College’s ‘Ironman’ Science competition. Students learn about the microscopic observation techniques and identify different zooplanktons and phytoplankton.

Workshop for Hong Kong Geography Students Participating International Geography Olympiad 2016 – Data Collection and Analysis

International Geography Olympiad is an annual global competition event of high school students across countries. The competition was held in Beijing in August 2016. The Department of Geography of Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre was entrusted by the Hong Kong Geographical Association for the training of four students on the gist of data collection and analysis on the context of microclimate fieldwork on 15/7/2016. The half-day training provided theory and practice of data collection and analysis to them.

Henan interflow

On 15th April 2016, a group of principals from various schools in Henan had paid a visit to our school campus, aiming to have an interflow, The interflow targeted our unique mode of teaching, which is based on both fieldwork and laboratory work. We introduced three of our biology courses, including freshwater stream, rocky shore and woodland. At the same time, we explained how we can make use of the geographical advantage to blend with the school curriculum so that students can maximize their knowledge through the experience in our field trip.

Visit of Singapore Geography Teachers by Ministry of Education

Teacher professional exchange was conducted on 18/3/2016. The Ministry of Singapore led a team of twenty three geography teachers to observe the lesson of Coastal Environment and have hands on practice on microclimate fieldwork. Both our centre teachers and Singapore geography teachers learnt profoundly in terms of knowledge and skills of fieldwork.
